MP academy's 8 boxers ease into QF

 Bhopal: On Friday eight boxers of Madhya Pradesh State Boxing Academy made it to the quarter-finals of the 6th Elite Women's Boxing Championship scheduled on Saturdayhere in Bhopal. The world champions Nikhat Za- reen and Lovlina Borgohain had also entered the last 16 stages. 


ELITE WOMEN'S BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP

Anjali Sharma, Poorni ma Rajput, Manju Bamboria, Radha Patidar Divya Pawar, Mahi Lamba, Shruti Yadav and Jigyasa Rajput of the academy have sailed to the quarter-finals.

Shruti Yadav made her place in the quarter-finals by defeating Annie Lama of Na- galand 5-0 in the 70 kg catego- ry with her impressive pun- ches. National player Divya Pawar won the 54 kg category by defeating Savita of All In- dia Police by 5-0. In the light weight category, Radha Pati- dar defeated Suman Yadav of Goa by 3-2. Vinati of the aca- demy had to face defeat at the hands of Babita from Utta- rakhand by 4-1.)


Olympian champ Lavina entered the quarter-finals by registering an easy victory Representing Assam, Lavi- na's fight with Orissa's Pooja Nayak was stopped by referee in the first round itself. Arju- na awardee player of railway Sonia Lather got a walk-over from Karnataka's Divyani.


The ongoing 6th Elite Women's Boxing Championship at the Martial Art Bhawan of TT Nagar Stadium, Bhopal will see some interesting qu arter-final bouts on Saturday World champion Nikhat Zareen of Telangana will take on Tanishka Chavar of Goa. Lovlina will compete with Meena Rani of railways. Simranjit Kaur of Punjab will compete against Barbie Gagol of Assam.
